Then his clothes are discovered abandoned beside a frozen lake, raising a terrifying question: did Ilya take his own life? Basically a death hoax goes out on Ilya right before the All-Stars Game, but due to a slightly manic episode he's not aware of it. Everyone in his life freaks out, but especially Shane who is desperate to prove the reports false.

"-you fell and bumped your head, yes?" The doctor looks up and levels him with a thoroughly unimpressed look.
It takes a moment for his words to sink in, the tone and phrasing making Shane feel geriatric. Like he tripped over his own feet and brained himself on the sidewalk.
"I didn't- I was checked." He gestures down to the whole fully dressed hockey ensemble look he's sporting. The doctor just frowns.
"No. They showed game in the attendings' lounge, it was definitely a fall. Skates, tricky things - so hard to stay upright."
Shane's mouth drops open as the doctor closes the curtain behind him, before moving to his bedside. He squints at the doctor's ID badge, and notices the tiny Boston Bears sticker on the bottom just before he registers the name:
Dr. Ilya Rozanov, MD
The man whore. Perfect.

or: Ilya is the youngest Chief of Neuro in Boston Gen's history. Shane is a hockey superstar with a few too many concussions.
