People are actually nice, they have basic human decency. Maybe Tubbo and Tommy could get some Therapy and start to heal.

“Dude,” Dustin says, sounding kind of horrified but also kind of delirious with elation. “Oh my God, you like him. You like Will. Will. As in, our Will. Our best friend Will.”
“I do not–” Mike tries, even though he’d kind of just admitted to accidentally kissing Will Byers, a little, so maybe that’s an entirely fruitless road to go down.
Listen. No one should ever let Mike make decisions right after he wakes up from a nap, okay? Especially not decisions where Will is concerned. This is so not his fault.

When someone turns 16 a telepathic link opens up to their soulmate. This link allows soulmates to send messages to each other's minds. Soulmates cannot “talk” to each other until both parties are 16. Mike is shocked when his link opens before El's birthday. All he receives from his soulmate is a message saying, “This won’t work out. I’m sorry. I’m already in love with someone.”

His head drops back on the cushion, neck lolling as he looks at Will. There’s an eyelash caught on his cheek, a dark line between a cluster of freckles. If Will were brave, he’d reach out and brush it away.
He wonders what Mike would wish for. He wonders if Mike would tell him.
“Have you ever been drunk before, Will?” Mike asks.
“What’s with all the questions?” he says.
Mike's eyes are warm, endlessly dark. He’s always appreciated the way they curve down at the corners, the way they crinkle when Mike smiles – really smiles.
“Call me curious,” Mike says. “Have you?”

Will couldn't tell if the heat that coursed through his entire body was due to that heated proximity or coming from the bed they both sank into and the sheets that smelled of peony-scented soap; Mike's soap.
Will turned his body to the other side only to be face to face with the boy he had loved all his life, who wasted no time in placing a kiss on his cheek. And as a result of the touch of his lips on his exposed cheek, he closed his eyes, only for his lips to move now towards his mouth. He knew what was coming next when he felt embraced by Mike's warm breath so close to his face as he lingered.

He didn’t really understand why someone would want to go to a cemetery for a birthday party, but hey, maybe Will was a bit of a weird kid.
“Hey Will.” Mike called, his voice gentler than he had ever heard it.
He whipped his head around, scanning the rows for another figure, desperately looking for Will. It didn’t really click until Mike stepped forward and knelt beside a grave, placing his perfectly imperfect cake in front of a well-kept headstone.
Oh.
Will Byers is dead.
So how the hell did he end up stuck haunting Mike Wheeler's basement?
