Summary
Mike and Will are not completely new to intimacy. They show each other affection constantly. Be it holding hands, bumping knees, kissing, compliments, pet names, leaving hickeys.
But that's where it stops.
They've talked about sex, discussed their feelings on it, agreed that they want to do it together, whenever they're both ready for it. And for a while, that was it.
It never came up again, and they both felt content with it. Maybe it'll come naturally, work out, like things usually do with the two of them.
Only lately something has shifted. Neither of them is sure when and how it happened, but things have started to heat up.

"Until I got here." He continued, turning to Mike to meet his eyes. "And I smelled your scent."
Or: Due to past trauma, Will doesn't think his inner will ever feel safe enough to fully present. Not expecting his heat to crash into him full force, he goes to see his best friend as he so often does, accidentally triggering his rut, and bringing about an unplanned pregnancy.

Summary
Mike and Will have officially been dating for a few weeks, and everything is going great. Better than Mike could have hoped for, really. But Mike’s rut is coming up, and he’s not sure he’s ready to ask Will to spend it with him. He just gets so needy, and the last thing he wants is for Will to see him like that and decide that actually he’s not so into Mike after all. After all, what kind of alpha wants to cuddle and be taken care of as much as he wants sex?
A lighthearted story about taking care of the people you love, letting them take care of you, and the small, casual, everyday ways we learn that we’re safe to accept what we need and give back what we can (with some smut thrown in for the hell of it — it is a rut fic after all)
