"All the flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today"
Since the extermination of Uzushio, the Uzumaki have practically disappeared. Like the waves slowly eroding the rocks people have forgotten about the children of the sea and their coral hair.
However, Naruto didn't. He was born with miracles at his fingertips, blood swirling with seawater and untamed like the wind creating currents.
Among cedars and rivers, he grew up being called by the echo of whales and the flight of seagulls, knowing that one day he would restore the world to its former glory reduced to mere tales.
As lanterns float down the river and a lone bright spot go towards the stars, Naruto ignores the proximity of the dazzling chakra as light reflects off peridots and moldavites and fire burning the sky.
Tastes like storm.
Shisui laments the loneliness of the only flying lantern, he sees a brief flash of bright red and the wind brings the smell of the sea, but he is too busy to look properly.
Both unaware that their worlds will collide, of the paths they will walk, but one day they will notice the other's presence.
