Summary
Stede takes a deep breath, internally scolding himself (come on, man, focus!). They were looking at something…on the bookcase? He suddenly remembers, very vividly, the feeling of the shelves against his back and the spines of his history collection digging into his shoulder blades. Good lord, did they get into a fight?? No, that can’t be right, they were in such good spirits! And the feeling was different than being thrown against the bookcase, it was more of a…press? Yes, that’s right: he was pressed against the bookcase. Stede remembers now: Ed had taken the book he was holding right out of his hand (very rude of him, really), dropped it to the ground, then grabbed his shoulders and pushed him up against the bookcase to kiss him.
Wait.

Stede is surprised to wake up in bed with Ed after an evening of drinking. Hijinks (and, ya know, sex) ensues.

Summary
They both exhale together, a sigh that lingers in the space between, a shared satisfaction. He briefly marvels at the sun-kissed flush across Ed’s cheeks, the curl and dip of his eyelashes. Ed’s hand is squeezing too tightly, but Stede finds he doesn’t really mind. In fact, somehow, he feels it’s not enough, that he needs to be closer, held tighter. Somehow, he feels that he fits perfectly here in the curve of Ed’s arms.
(canon divergent: In which Blackbeard decides he would like to attempt to impress society again, and this time, sets his sights on a masquerade ball. Stede decides to teach him to dance)

Ed can think of several things. He has to bite the inside of his cheek to keep himself from letting out a fucking giggle. Is he going to become someone who giggles, too? Iz might actually die. “Your call, Captain, this is obviously your thing.” And then, only because he can’t help himself: “Do whatever you want to me.”
“Oh! Well. That’s—well,” Stede stammers, turning a lovely shade of pink right before Ed’s eyes. Okay, that may have been a bit too much, then. Oops.
