Newt hadn’t talked to the boy, Tom, nearly long enough. His mind worked fast. Later, he would admit that it worked probably too fast.
“Confundo!”
The woman stumbled and looked terribly confused and a little dizzy- a bit like a drunk person. “Wha?” she slurred.
At this point, Newt should have probably said that it was, in fact, visiting hours and that he had every right to be here. What happened instead was:
“I’m adopting Tom Marvolo Riddle, don’t you remember me?”

Tim can't quite seem to remember how he got here, or what happened to his head, but he's in his uniform, at least. On the downside, that means that whoever grabbed him had it out for Robin, which indicates a different caliber of villain than the sort of jerks who might try for a Timothy Drake kidnap attempt. On the plus side, it means he's got armor and his utility belt. At this point, he'll take whatever he can get.

“Here goes nothing.” Tim cleared his throat and flicked on the communicator. “Hello Bats. Your new dispatcher is reporting in.”Several moments of long silence greeted him. Tim shifted and eyed the mic icon, showing it was indeed on, the team had heard him.
Finally, an eerily chipper voice picked up. “Well, well, well. They told us we might get new blood, I wasn’t expecting you to sound so sweet. What’s your name, darling?”
“You can call me Tim.”
“Tim,” the new voice was low and angry. Red Hood’s icon lit up. “You expect us to believe that’s your real name? Tim? You sound like a fucking office worker.”
