He tries to squint his eyes open, but the sun is too bright. His head hurts. His throat too. Honestly, his whole body hurts like hell, to be honest. He should probably get up; move around a bit, try to remember why he was here and what exactly happened.
He coughs a bit, water spewing out, and throws an arm over his eyes, blocking whatever light he can. He rolls to his side, ribs and lungs burning. The water surrounds him like a shallow, dull blanket.

Rookie Roz has fucking nothing on the self-destructive bastard that spawns in the fall of 2016.
The demon that has swapped places with Cliff's best friend has one goal, and that is seemingly to kill the body it has stolen. The CGM app looks like a goddamn mountain range, and for the entire first two weeks after The Breakup Cliff is waking up several times a night to call Roz and get him to deal with the high or low that he’s trying to sleep through.
And then the notifications stop.

Summary
Shane is woken up in the middle of the night to news that he didn't know he had been waiting all his life to hear; his estranged grandfather is dead. He feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders, and that he can finally breathe for the first time in years. But this relief is short lived.
Despite a mutual hatred, his grandfather has left Shane everything in his will, including his personal slave; a male omega named Ilya.
Ilya's life with the elder Mr. Hollander was a living hell, and he doesn't expect much of an improvement with his grandson. Since presenting almost a decade ago at the age of 17, the only constants in his life have been fear, pain, and never-ending hunger. So why should life with the now-retired hockey player, be any departure from what he has come to accept as his lot in life?
Despite the fact that curiosity has only ever gotten Ilya into trouble, he can't help but wonder why Canada's golden boy never visited his own grandfather? And why would his former owner, who loved to see Ilya suffer, will him away to a man so endearing, and mild mannered that Ilya is struggling to not let his defenses down? There has to be a catch, and Ilya is determined not to fall for such a trap.

Ilya stared at her for a long moment. Yuna studied his face to try and figure out if he understood her, but this almost six year old already knew how to hide his emotions on his face better than most adults she knew.
“Okey,” Ilya said and then he turned to face away from her.
Yuna decided that was enough for today. Shane returned and Yuna watched as Ilya’s mask broke when he saw Shane. Ilya was smiling at Shane like he was the only star in Ilya’s sky.

Ilya and Shane meet on the first day of kindergarden. Yuna feels motherly towards her son's new friend. A story of found family and Ilya getting to find them so much sooner.
