Summary
Shane at the Sochi Olympics with the rest of the Canadian Winter Olympians. Including the womens olympic hockey team. There’s a ice breaker in the olympic village. There’s musical chairs. He and the womens goalie for canada are the last standing in musical chairs. They are VERY competitive. . And Shane won the game of musical chairs. Shannon ended up on Shanes lap. They smile big, because it’s just a silly game. There’s pictures taken and the media loves it. The next game Shannon gets a shut out against Finland. NOW it’s superstition, and Shannon and All the Canadian women's team MUST sit for a second on Shanes lap before each game. The media loves it. And the Canadien women's hockey team wins gold.
But Ilya finds out. and gets JEALOUS.
This leads to Ilya meeting up with Shane and doing the nastiest lap dance ever on Shane …..for Luck. (in private)
The Ilya lap-dance is just icing on Ilya's cake. -

In a world where Shane manages to finish his sentence : “I thought maybe we would…. after finding Ilya on the rooftop instead of just saying…Nevermind.
And instead of kissing furiously and going two years without hooking up. They talk a little bit, and figure out a way to connect that night. What would happen? This is a fix-it where both Shane and Ilya are much better communicators, and are less terrified of what they want. And they are less nervous about their desires and what that might mean. It’s a fantasy guys. Forgive me the mistakes. I used spell check but didn’t have another person beta my work so it’s rough. I didn’t use any AI just my old boring brain so there will be many mistakes, and run on sentences and I’m pretty sure I changed tenses at some point. -

Later, in the locker room, Hollander approached. He had on compression leggings and socks, which was totally normal. Except that he looked so delicious in the middle of the dull grey room that Ilya had to ball his hands at his sides to keep from reaching out to touch or tousle or squeeze. He should, though. He was very good at that with hockey players – wrestling, ribbing, tweaking, slapping. But Hollander had a no-touch aura. Ilya had sworn he wasn’t going to cow to that nonsense, but here he was, trying to figure out why the gravitas of two hundred and five pounds of hockey muscle and three Hart trophies suddenly felt like a Fabergé egg when paired with shiny brown eyes and freckles.
Anyway, Hollander stood very still as if Ilya would help him if he just waited.
And sure enough – “Yes, Hollander? You want an autograph? Whatever you need, I am very generous person.”

At age 24, Ilya Rozanov is drafted straight from the KHL to the Montreal Voyageurs. Shane Hollander can’t seem to stop looking at him.

Summary
When the lesbian next to him at the bar very kindly informs Shane that (other) women have been throwing themselves at him all evening, he's surprised. How was he supposed to know factual statements about the temperature of the room were meant to invite a proposition?!
Her solution? Studying romantic social cues and flirting techniques. The textbook? Romance novels.
Well, it can't hurt to try, and anything Shane tries, he tries thoroughly. Maybe a little too thoroughly? He didn't expect for his book reviews to pick up a following, and he DEFINITELY didn't expect to become the (secret, anonymous) face of "allyship" in the MLH.
He's not complaining, though. The books resonate with him more than he ever could have predicted, even if the hockey is unrealistic as shit, and maybe he'll learn a thing or two along the way. (About healthy relationships, communication, and emotional intelligence. Not any of the OTHER things you'll find in a hockey romance. Nope. Not at all...)

They used to swap places all the time as kids. At school, at the playground, at practice. For fun. It had been easy then—like a quick changing of jerseys between periods. That was before the invisible fork in the road that had inexplicably parted them in their teens. It's been over a decade since they’ve done this bit. And Shane doesn’t want to do it. Not because he can’t do it but because he is so, so tired of playing clean-up crew for Henry’s fuckups.
Shane hesitates, jaw tightening. Then he slowly exhales through his nose.
“Do you. Still have. The clip-ons.” Shane grits out.---
