Summary
He looked at Bruce, standing with his shoulders squared and his profile set in that expensive way that used to put Jason’s guard up on instinct (before he’d lived here long enough to realise that Bruce just naturally looked like that). The uncanny stillness of him. The set of his jaw. The refusal to concede a single inch of ground on something he'd already decided. All of that pride.
He looked at Lantern. All forward momentum and barely-contained energy. He looked pissed, but the kinda pissed that resembled enjoyment if you squinted. It was the expression of a guy who wanted to be heard and was also, somewhere underneath the frustration, not entirely miserable about the company. Lantern was always like that with Bruce, even though he’d often misjudge or misunderstand the way B went about life. One might say he was filled with prejudice…
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single weirdo in possession of a billion bucks, must be in want of companionship. Unfortunately, Bruce doesn’t seem to be doing much to fix that.
That’s okay, because he has Jason, and Jason has a plan.

Jim Gordon learned that early, back when Batman was a new phenomenon in Gotham. When he was very much alone, short on allies, hated and feared by most of the police force with nearly as much intensity as the criminals on the streets.
Years later, it seems Red Hood is determined to prove that whatever his dad can do, he can do better. Or worse, where injuries are concerned.
(Part one: Gordon helps an injured first-year Batman. Part two: Gordon intervenes when an injured Red Hood is caught in a bad situation. Part of that intervention involves calling his dad.)

Summary
Eight months in, Hal Jordan knows the rules. Shirt stays on. Lights stay low. Bruce doesn’t sleep, doesn’t get cornered, doesn’t explain. Hal has read all of it as privacy and left it alone.
Then his belt cracks in the air, and Bruce stops the way a film stops, mid-frame.
What Bruce tells him at three in the morning — pleasantly, evenly, a case file still open on his lap, like a funny story about a strict childhood — is the worst thing Hal has ever heard. Bruce doesn’t know it’s the worst thing. He closed the case at 13 years old and filed it under discipline he earned.
Hal doesn’t argue with the verdict.
Instead Hal builds a one-item agenda, and it isn’t fixing him. It’s staying.

To his surprise, it was not weapons or armor, or even one of the more romantic gifts Talia used to send him. Instead, it was a large, leather-bound book, thick and new. He ran his fingers over the cover and flipped it open. His breath caught as he saw the first page.
A photo of a little boy, no more than two, wrapped up in a huge Batman cape that practically swallowed him whole, green eyes piercing through the cowl. Beneath, in Talia's spiky cursive, read: Damian, age 2 and ½.
or: Bruce's birthday present from Talia forces him to reckon with just how much of Damian's childhood he will never get back and how many versions of him he will never meet.
