Four years ago Izuku's life was flipped upside down. He thought he knew what nightmares were made of growing up treated quirkless, but he really had no clue what true hell felt like.
Now he's escaped his tormentors with a target on his back, a fake smile on his face, and a numbness in his heart. He's had to lie to survive–to everyone, including himself.
When a class trip-gone-wrong brings Midoriya back into the spotlight, he knows there’s no point hiding anymore. He’ll have to face his past one way or another, and he refuses to let those around him become collateral. Even if it means shouldering the world’s burden alone.
It’ll be fine. After all, it’s nothing he’s not used to.

Summary
Katsuki and Izuku get kidnapped and pulled into a villain's twisted series of games. In one of which, they both end up chained to the floor as the room they're in begins to fill with water. Izuku is given a key, which he can use to unlock the chain. The issue is--He can only use it once.
And so he finds himself tasked with making the choice of either saving his own life or Katsuki's.
(And this choice is the easiest one he will ever make.)

Summary
“Izuku?” Bakugo says just that. Soft and barely more than a breath.
Midoriya hesitates. Then, slowly steps out from behind Aizawa.
The light in the room catches him fully now, illuminating what they couldn’t see before.
With his shorts cut off just above the knees, the metal on his left leg gleams.Someone gasps.
Bakugo’s face crumples like a paper shell caught in the rain.
Midoriya notices. Of course he does.He gestures lamely toward the prosthetic and offers a crooked smile. “You wouldn’t believe it,” he says, voice shaking. “But a zombie chewed it up.”
No one laughs. Instead, there is an unmistakable sob. Uraraka, probably, her hands are pressed over her face, shoulders trembling.

“Edgeshot’s work was proficient enough to get you through that battle,” the doctor explained to Katsuki and his parents when the boy was finally lucid enough to comprehend anything. “Unfortunately, that’s all it was good for. We tried to work with it as best as we could, but your heart was too unstable. A transplant was required in order to sustain your life, Mr. Bakugo.”
“So…” he said slowly, his voice hoarse, “I’ve got some extra’s heart inside of me? …What bastard had to die just so I could live?”
“Katsuki,” his mother breathed as she crouched down, taking Katsuki’s hand in her own. Her eyes were locked on his, a look fixed in them that was meant for Katsuki to decipher.
Despite how slow he was, he understood the look in her eyes.
“It’s Izuku…”

By week five, she’s recovered and trusted enough to start taking short walks on her own, though she doesn’t miss how Joel almost always “happens” to be on the porch when she gets back, always giving her a quick once-over as if she’s gotten into something dangerous in the ten minutes she walked around without him. She rolls her eyes at it and grumbles to keep up appearances, but she can’t help liking it, just a little bit. She went three days of being so sick that she was unable to leave her bed in FEDRA when she was nine without anyone noticing. Now she thinks she’d be lucky to get a sneeze under the radar. It’s a lot, kind of, having someone so attentive.
…but it’s also pretty fucking nice.
Less nice is trying to find her feet in this new life, which requires all sorts of things she never knew she didn’t know.
Such as cracking an egg, apparently.
