Summary
Stede Bonnet boards a flight to Honolulu for one last family holiday before he and Mary quietly end their marriage. Instead, a hijacking leaves both pilots dead, armed men outside the locked cockpit door, and Stede alone at the controls of a Boeing 737 he has no idea how to fly.
Hundreds of miles away, air traffic controller Ed Teach becomes the only voice Stede can trust. With more than a hundred lives depending on them, Ed must talk him through turning, descending and landing it—one switch, one breath and one increasingly intimate radio conversation at a time.

This one's a keeper. There's realistic tension and emotion that doesn't feel overly wrought, and the sense of place is really well done and gives us a sense of the overwhelming pressure without being melodramatic. The author is well-informed about general cockpit information without dull exposition, and resists the teptation to turn a ripping yarn into a bodice ripper.
This is bite-sized high flying adventure that you shouldn't miss out on.

Mon Dieu am I crazy about this story! It is imaginative, wonderfully set with links to gorgeous art and architecture and feels like pure love on the page. It's a great example of how the basic canon personalities of Ed and Stede fit in so many places and times. And good goddess, Drcfxtina...I mean. Her stuff is fire. Don't sleep on this. It hasn't been completely posted yet and I am dying to re-read it.

Sometimes it’s like Stede can read Ed’s thoughts—except for all the times when it’s painfully obvious that he can’t.
Especially the whole, y’know, Ed being in love with him thing.
Ed flicks some ash into the daffodil bed. “Thought you quit.”
“I did.” Stede says, all eyelashes and dimples as he makes a “gimme” motion with two fingers.
Ed sighs and hands over the pack and a lighter. He isn’t present as he does it, not really. He’s thinking about that other life, where Stede takes Ed’s cigarette from his lips without asking.

Except now.
17 days after he let stupid fucking Stede Bonnet come inside of him.
17 days later, and four fucking days late for his period.
He better not be fucking pregnant.
He can't keep it. He totally can't keep it. It'd be insane to fucking keep it.
Except, maybe, if he keeps it... For a little while at least.... He could keep Stede?
