Owen's never had wine before. He's never really had the chance: not only could he dream of affording even the cheap swill the tavern's serve, but getting someone to take his coin would be a truly herculean labour. So he resigned himself to the occasional ale, the odd keg fallen off a wagon by the woods his shack resides in once in a blue moon, and water, plenty of water, comfortable in never having a glass of wine. It's not even something he's been keen to try - it's for normal people to drink. Not him.
Yet the mayor of Oakhurst is currently searching his cellar of no doubt fine vintages and blood [mostly blood he imagines] to fetch the lowly lumberjack a glass like a common servant.
It baffles him.

“Abolish?” Ah, the doctor. “I was just coming around doing house calls. With all the fighting recently, I’ve decided to make sure everyone had enough food and that nobody was in need of care.”
Abolish sighed. “Come in.”

Tommy was handed a small flyer in printed in black and white, with the words “POETRY NIGHT - OPEN MIC” splayed across the front in bubbled font. He fumbled with his binder as he took it, eyes wide as he said, “are you sure? I mean, I love poetry and all, but I don’t think-I’m not sure—what if I can’t write poetry?”
Mr. Sam’s dark eyes softened, and he reached out to place a hand on Tommy’s shoulder, squeezing it gently. “Everyone has to start somewhere; every poet, from me to Rudy Francisco, started off without knowing a clue about what we were doing. Tommy, it’s not about if you can or cannot write poetry, it’s about if you want to.”

Summary
When Scott says that the cold doesn't bother him, he does mean it. He's used to the cold, and he far prefers it to the heat. Working under the sun, sweating, uncomfortable hotness; he'll take the cold any day.
It's just that the ice magic that has awakened within him is extremely cold. All of the time. No matter what he does.
It seems like Pyro has the opposite issue. Perhaps they can solve each other's problems.

Some days Legundo was in so much pain Pyro thought surely Legundo had considered vampirism, surely he would join himself and Abolish, in what was likely forever. Without the pain even, of his hip or leg, without being forced to bed for a day or two, when the weather grew rainy and the shrapnel still in his body throbbed in time with his heart beat, and made his scent grow sour in Pyro's nose.
But he never asked, and Pyro knew better than to offer.
Pyro was dressed in his work shirt, and suspenders, his boots removed and arranged neatly on the edge of the rug, as instructed. His arms were tied behind his back with silver chains, the hum of discomfort well worth the knowledge that he could not break them, not even if he strained, and hurt himself.
Around his neck was a heavy leather collar, padded with fleece that warmed his cold undead neck, soft against the raised scarring of Owen and Scott's mouths. Attached to it was one more chain, iron, the end of it strung through a loop.
The other end was in Legundo's hand.

Summary
This was Abolish's job. It was often messy, and complicated, but he was good at it. Get in, get the job done, get out. Fade into the background, only make yourself known when you absolutely have to. He'd been doing it for over thirty years by that point.

All around Abolish charred tree trunks, ranging from a sooty black to ashen white, seemed to loom over him like disappointed sentinels. Guardian angels passing their judgement on a lone man struggling to stay standing under the dizzying weight of his actions and the amount of blood he was losing.
Damn Scott having been able to land a few good hits on him before he’d firmly chased them back enough to escape.
