It was like an electric shock went through Clorinde’s body. That name…it brought memories long forgotten of sneaking to the roof of the school, of laughter, of patching cuts and bruises just…like…
Clorinde’s head turned to look at the man on the ground. She still couldn't really see him; the woman was blocking him, but that name. No one had that name.
Wriothesley.
She didn’t realize she said it aloud until the woman turned her head towards Clorinde. She quickly looked away so she wouldn’t get caught staring.
If it was him, she doubted he remembered her, anyway.
The woman made some sort of noise of recognition. “Hey, Wrio, that girl kind of looks that picture of yours.” She said it so loudly that Clorinde instinctively turned back around just in time to see the man hit his head against the wall as he apparently moved too fast to look at her.

Navia nodded. “She isn’t feeling well.”
Wriothesley was disappointed, of course, but that didn’t sound concerning. “Okay, did you think she was lying?”
“Oh, Archons, no, I saw her. She was really sick. That was the problem.” Navia paused, taking a sip of tea. “You know Clorinde, she usually never let anyone see her sick or let it change her routine even if it made it worse. So imagine my surprise when she asked me to cancel your date. Clo would’ve dragged herself down here sick as a dog.”
He tried to take a sip of his own cup of tea to distract himself, because what Navia was saying was, in fact, concerning.
Navia grimaced at him. “It gets worse though.”
“Worse?”
“She called off work.”
Oh, that was…oh, that was bad. He must’ve faltered in hiding his own concern because Navia gestured towards him.
“My feelings exactly.“

Jill gave a smile. “My lord, you aren’t afraid of dancing, are you?”
“I’m not afraid of dancing,” Clive answered quickly, but he paused momentarily. “Dancing with someone might be a little different, though.”
“It is a little bit different, yes. Have you had lessons?”
“Of course,” he grunted.
“And did you practice with a partner?”
“Yes, it’s a little hard to practice when your partner is much shorter than you and is also your little brother who keeps giggling at everything.”
Jill tried to cover her mouth before she laughed again. “I think I would have liked to see that.”
Clive snorted, but he was at least smiling a little again. “I’m sure you would have.”

Summary
After stealing a map from the notorious pirate lord haunting the Philosian sea, you had believed you successfully escaped him. Fate, however, brought you right back onto his ship.
The map was unusual. Dots and cryptic symbols covered the parchment instead of geographical elements. But Sylus was convinced it led to the Island of Songs, where the Tome of the Sea God was supposed to be hidden—an ancient relic that was sure to fetch him a good price on the black market.
In your quest to chart the entirety of the ocean of Philos, reaching that island also aligned with your own interest. But you would be lying if you claimed that was the only reason that kept you onboard the White Crow.

“Why does it not–” Kaveh’s voice ripped out in a whine. “Have you not thought about it at all since then?”
A long pause. The longest one yet. “Who says I haven’t?”
Lightning flashed through the window, illuminating Al-Haitham’s face. Half of it was still wrapped in shadow, blocked by Kaveh’s head, but he could see the distance between them measured, laid flat by the light. The lightning went. The room went dark. But the memory of Al-Haitham’s wide eyes did not leave him.
What did he want?
“Have you?” asked Kaveh.
“Have you?” Al-Haitham’s voice was so quiet, buried under the murmur of the rain.
Kaveh swallowed. “I mean…I thought that was obvious.”
Kaveh accidentally sleeps with Al-Haitham. And then...keeps sleeping with him.
