Summary
There’s nothing strong about taking pride in your ability to “handle” things when running from your problems is the weapon of choice. There’s no pride in isolating yourself from all company until you had too much learned helplessness to do anything else. And there definitely isn’t any comfort in the shallow quick fixes of substances you use to feel something.
Pathetic.
What would be even more pathetic is to book a one-way flight to his city, show up at his front door and beg him to make it all good again. You think to yourself that you’re not the type of person to do that. As careless as you’ve become, you still have enough self-respect to not actively seek out the people who you deemed to have lied to you. So, no, you’re not pathetic enough to fly out and show up with no warning.
