“Okay,” Rumi began, standing up and stepping closer. “So you don’t want to spar. Do you want to play instead? Me and Zo can help you work off some energy and you won’t have to be in control. We can do it for you.”
Now that was an interesting proposal. Mira was no longer embarrassed to admit that she loved it when her girls turned her brain off, let her be theirs without any need to be strong or tough. Her resolve was wavering, but she made one final protest, flushing as she spoke. “It would help, but I’m not really sure that I can… y’know, let go today.”
“Don’t worry, baby. You know we can handle you being bratty if that’s what you need,” Zoey purred from her seat on the bed, sending a shiver through Mira’s body.

Mira's visit with her family doesn't go well. At first she tries dealing with her anger like she always has, but it doesn't work. Rumi and Zoey have an alternative idea to help her blow off some steam and remember how important she is to them.

Summary
Mira adjusts her shirt collar for the umpteenth time, eyes flicking nervously between the mirror she's in front of and the little velvet box on the nightstand, one that's been haunting her mind for weeks now. She blows out a breath, nerves fraying as she strides over to the nightstand and picks the box up. She flips it open, thumb idly tracing over the cushioning of the box, careful not to touch the round cut diamond set within a silver band lest she risk dirtying the ring before she even gets a chance to show it to Rumi.
She nods to herself, sharp and assertive, tucking the ring deep into her pocket as she swings the door open to exit out into the hallway.
"She's almost ready!" Zoey chirps from where she's bundled up on the couch with her favorite turtle blanket, looking over at Mira with a knowing smirk. "Are you finally going to—"
"Yes," Mira hisses out, eyes darting between the couch where Zoey's sprawled out and the hall Rumi could emerge from at any given moment.
Zoey raises her hands placatingly. "Relax, I'm not going to ruin the surprise."

Rumi hesitated, eyes narrowing.
“Out where?” She asked after a beat, shifting her head to look up more fully at her.
“It’s a secret.” Mira leaned closer, lowering her voice like she was plotting a heist. “But I promise it’s worth it.”
