Jasper can't stop pacing back and forth in the living room, because he can hardly contain his nervous excitement over finally being able to raise a child with David. David met this child at his summer job at Camp Campbell, and he needed a new family after being orphaned by his neglectful parents. Perhaps something good can finally come out of that crappy place. And maybe Jasper can finally be the cool dad he's always wanted to be!
It's just a shame that his new son is nowhere near as enthusiastic about the family life as he is.

Inspired by a tumblr post by @goldenaltar about a no astrophage/space diplomacy AU I literally could NOT stop thinking about since I first read it.
The first collaboration between eridians and humans involves planning for a proper first contact, out in space so their respective interstellar trip times are cut (approximately) in half. Grace was conscripted for ‘Project Neighborhood’ as one of many biologists on the team. He sneaks out to the tunnel connecting their ships after hours to try and catch a glimpse of a Real Life Alien - and there's an eridian on the other side who has the exact same idea.
When their sneaking around catches up to them, they're forced to consider the implications of all this sneaking around, and maybe lean into them a little to keep from being thrown out the nearest airlock - or starting an intergalactic war.

Ava knew who the Butcher was. She didn't know the convict she sent down into the depths of a blood ocean under false pretenses was him until he told her his name in a fit of mania and terror.
Now she's on Erid in a house with Simon the Butcher of Eden, and a scientist from another universe and a bunch of sentient rocks, and she has to just... live with that now.
Or: Ava gets to witness Simon healed and happy in his domestic bliss with Grace, and she's pretty weird, I mean totally normal about it.
