[Takes place after Issue #23 of Absolute Superman.]
{And during the end of the Slaughterhouse Nine arc of Worm.}A trap set by Brainiac sends Kal-El to Scion’s cage by accident. Kal-El, upon arriving on Earth Bet, immediately hears every horror and crime being committed, and concludes that this is another plan of Brainiac’s to break him.
In a world that practically begs him to ignore all the evil and fight for himself, Kal-El perseveres through it all and shows Earth Bet what it means to be a true hero; not just swooping in and out for glory or gain, but actually, genuinely showing kindness and everyday sympathy and support to those in need, while holding no tolerance for the evil without stooping to their level.

Jean Grey is a villain. As much as she wishes she could be a hero, it is just not true. After everything she’s done, everything she can do, she’s not sure if anyone will give her that chance.
Yet,
There were no memories of the Avengers here. No memory of Thanos or the ‘blip’ or Hulk or even Spider-man. Instead there were other memories. Of a woman in black with a tower on her chest, and then a man in green with a glowing hood Other heroes followed, a cacophony of names she barely followed. She had never ever heard of an Alexandria, Eidolon, or Legend. She’d never heard of an Armsmaster or Scion or anything like these. This didn’t make sense.

There was a gasp and a loud clatter of faux-ceramic, and Max flinched from the volume, her hand reaching out instinctively towards the threads, ready to pull, ready to propel herself backwards, ready make undone what was done, but there was no violence and she was not in danger; it was only a broken plate. Her eggs were on the floor and on the waitress’ rubber-soled shoes, and the waitress herself stood frozen and nervous with her eyes fixed on Lisa’s gun.
“That’s my mistake. I got ahead of myself,” Lisa said. “Don’t worry, this isn’t Pulp Fiction. As if I’d ever be that tacky. Max. Hey, Max. Do your thing. It’s better for both of us if she doesn’t know this happened.”
Max grabbed the threads and pulled.

OR: After the storm, Max and Chloe take to the road and flee Arcadia Bay. Max is adrift and guilty, and she's afraid of herself and her future. When she stumbles into a diner looking for breakfast, a chance encounter gives her some perspective.
