Summary
Jonathan Sims is a merperson who has always lived below the waves. One day, however, he steals away and ventures to the surface in search of someone he lost. On newfound legs, his search takes him to The Magnus Institute — the foremost academic institution researching crypto-zoology and crypto-marine biology, headed by the enigmatic Elias Bouchard. With his new position as Head Archivist, Jon is in the perfect place to continue his search. Hiding his secret identity as merfolk should no problem, either.
After all, it's not like he wants to be friends, much less more-than-friends with the humans.
And surely none of them are hiding secrets of their own.
Right?
...
In other words: It's a selkie and merfolk AU! Jon is merfolk, and goes to the surface in search of a long-lost friend. He takes a job at the Magnus Institute as part of his search, and soon finds himself embroiled in all kinds of drama — including, but not limited to, falling in love.

Summary
Jon manages to keep himself from reading all of the Watcher’s Crown and then, somehow, he isn’t there anymore. He’s in the Archives, years earlier. He can fix everything before it starts, right?
Wrong. He’s in Georgie’s flat. There’s still time to make things right, it’s not too late, surely?
Wrong. The Archives, except that that’s not—is that Martin? That’s probably—
Wrong. Scotland. Maybe this was all just a bad dream. Martin says it was all just a bad dream. Martin’s always so right, even if he’s acting off. Even if his hair is streaked with spiderweb.

Summary
“Did you know I don’t have a heartbeat anymore? Cut me, and I don’t bleed. I don’t eat, I don’t sleep, I’m cold all the way through. Just a walking corpse, really. I did die, after all.”
“So did I.”
“No. No you didn’t. You almost died, and you chose not to. I chose to die and I was brought back. It’s an important distinction, Jon. You still bleed.” And he puts his heart into it, leaning slightly towards the Archivist with one fist balled over his sternum, and it feels important, but Jon doesn’t quite follow and he’s too afraid to ask. Here, between knowledge and death, there is too much that should remain unsaid.
If it's fear that reduces men to beasts, what makes a man?
Jon is the Archivist, and all that entails. He also remembers that, once, he was human.

Summary
Most people who were unlucky enough to meet Jonathan Sims assumed he had no friends. This was true, up to a point two months after Jon became a researcher at the Magnus Institute: afterwards Jon had no friends, except for Sasha James.
In which Timothy Stoker is attributable to a fake dating scheme, Gerry Keay is attributable to witchcraft, Martin Blackwood is attributable to an ill-advised crush, and Daisy Tonner is attributable to soulmates.
And in which Sasha James is attributable to arson.
