"I'm getting to know you, aren't I?" she asks, and he should be annoyed by this. His Tuesday evening ritual involves peace and quiet, not making conversation with a bartender, no matter how attractive she is. Instead, he's charmed.
"You're always here on Tuesday nights, same time, same order," she says with a smirk. "I could call you Scotch and Pretzels, but 'Tuesday' is a little simpler."
"Or you could use my actual name," he counters with a smirk of his own.
"I could. But where's the fun in that?"
"Oh come on, you can even be on first name basis, that's a privilege not everyone gets," he tells her. "Phil," he says, and she grins.
"Daisy," she says in response, shaking his hand.
Coulson only almost dies in New York. Instead, he's reassigned to a SHIELD desk job. Meeting Daisy, that's all chance.

Roy folds his arms, glaring. "All right, what the fuck is going on here? Why have you suddenly decided to fancy me?"
"I haven't suddenly decided, I've always fancied you. Just didn't know until today that you'd be up for it."
Roy reminds himself sternly that he cannot murder their star striker the day before a match. "Just because I'm interested in blokes doesn't mean I'm interested in you."
Jamie looks confused. "It doesn't? But..." He gestures at his face as if it's incontrovertible evidence, then down his body like a closing argument.
Roy cannot murder him. The media would be intolerable.

Jamie's behaviour changes dramatically after they start doing the one-on-one training sessions. He used to be such a brash little bitch when he and Roy played together, and since his return to Richmond he's been more of a whiny little bitch, but now he's hardly acting like a little bitch at all. Roy doesn't know what to do with it.
"Is it just me, or has Tartt been almost tolerable lately?" he asks one day in the coaches' office. "Fucking weird."
No one says anything for a minute, and Roy has mentally moved on to planning next week's drills when Beard says, "Roy, everything that kid has ever done was to get your attention."

A masterpiece. Realistic and subtle yet so powerful. I really appreciated the unapologetic depiction of abuse with the overall message of recovery. Thorin is not evil, but he is very flawed and abusive. Bilbo overcomes being "small" and "defenseless" by knowing when to play up those perceptions for his own safety and when to stand up for himself, and most importantly by accepting help.
Whether it be a relationship or something else, everyone has experienced a dream come true turned into a nightmare and this story captures the devastation and fallout of that perfectly.
"Though it’s possible no one else has ever loved him so well, it is certain no one else has ever loved him so terribly." There were many quotes that stood out to me but this one summed everything up well. Despite it all, this is a love story; despite it all, there was love. Even if the love was terrible and even if it was not enough, it was still there and it always will be. That is both terrible and beautiful. That is love.

As far as Boromir goes, this fic is an excellent character study. The relationship itself is so realistically depicted with all characters having flaws and dealing with misunderstandings and cultural differences, and yet they care for each other, love each other, and forgive each other. This fic is full of depth and wisdom and was very healing to read.
