Summary
A long time ago in a galaxy, far, far away—no, even farther than that—a series of insignificant events affects everyone in massive ways no one could have foreseen: not even either of the two remaining people who can see the future. A messiah's prophecy is fulfilled. A family is reunited. A democracy is restored. None of it is easy, and none of it is perfect, but it's a start.
In other words: Anakin Skywalker just wants to be able to look his daughter in the eye. So, since there's no one else around who can give him a kick in the pants, he does so himself; and with great reluctance (and even more grumbling), he sets about fixing the galaxy he played a large role in screwing up.

Baelor survives the blow to his head at Ashford but believes himself to be mated to Maekar as a result. Their father orders Maekar to go along with the charade in order to ensure Baelor heals from his wounds. Maekar does, even though he knows it will be his undoing.

Summary
As he lies dying on the field in Starpike, an anomaly appears to Maekar similar to what triggered the dragon dreams that haunts his lineage. Maekar who lived in the shadow of his older brother Baelor, finds himself pulled back to the currents of history. He isn't alone, his soul is tethered to that of his eldest son Daeron the Drunken who predeceased him. Now, father and son find themselves in Ashford in 209 AC in order to stop the tragedy that started the fall of their house.
