Summary
When a mission requires his human crewmates to transform into Vulcans, Spock supports them as best he can. He is pleased as his newly Vulcanized friends dive into the briefings on emotional control he prepared for them, as well as the Vulcan databases he linked in case they have educational needs he had not anticipated.
Until Pike says “Four and a half Vulcans to beam down”, and Spock’s heart freezes.
Trying to make sense of the season 3 teaser, where the bigotry is cultural instead of genetic, Pike falls down the Vulcan alt-right pipeline and Spock is left paying the price. But his friends have his back.

“T’hy’la.”
He could still remember the way Spock screamed the word.
Turning to Uhura, Pike spoke.
“Ensign. I want you to get the translator up and running and get as much information on that word Spock kept saying. ‘T’hy’la’, I think.”
“I don’t need the translator sir. I know what it means.”
She hesitated and Pike gave her a look.
“…And?”
“Well… there’s no exact translation to standard. It can mean lots of things. Friend, brother.” She paused. “But the closest translation is probably… lover.”

When Spock mysteriously collapses, it's up to Pike to figure out what happened, who "t'hy'la" is and how he can save Spock before it's too late.
