Summary
You had been working retail jobs longer than some of your peers had been alive, and you had seen it all. At one point or another, you had come face to face with the worst customer service interactions imaginable—from Karens with years-old expired coupons, to teens who paid in pennies, to armed robbery, to Black Friday sale stampedes—and you had made the conscious decision to come out the other side with your customer service smile only slightly strained.
By comparison, working at Fazbear's was a breeze. $30 an hour PLUS insurance PLUS long and short term benefits? If you hadn't read the terms and conditions carefully, you'd think you might have signed your soul away when you started working there; it seemed almost too good to be true.
In a way, you guessed it was. Apparently, there was a history surrounding the company that had made other prospective employees… hesitant to apply. Still, you had done worse jobs for less, so the fact that your animatronic co-workers were a bit "quirky" was honestly a bonus. -

Summary
You had some errands to run in town, and since you were the only one who could leave the property, the rest of the household bombarded you with requests. Groceries for Sunspot, reading material for Fool and Misuta... You know, the usual. Expected. You're fond of them, and they of you, so it was no skin off your back to run an errand for them.
Sol, however, had made no secret of the fact that he was not fond of you, so his unexpected request to pick up a secretive package at an unfamiliar store did not fill you with confidence.
You did it though. After all, who are you to refuse a request from your "friend".

Summary
The final battle in the Spire of Deceit goes wrong. A last resort spell cast by Shadow Milk causes the space-time distortion of the Spire to warp, transporting the cookies within it into a strange, diverged reality.
Pure Vanilla meets the mysterious Sage of Truth, who can't seem to contain his manic curiosity about him... or the others who came with him. Shadow Milk meets the hauntingly familiar Truthless Recluse, who gently convinces him that everything is going to be okay again... misunderstanding everything in the process.
Their second problem is getting home.
Their first is figuring out they're not home in the first place.

The cookies we know have been sent to a different reality. One that is like their own but slightly to the left.
Big confrontation between sage, PV, Smilk, and Truthless recluse
Poor sage, experiencing the same intensity of loneliness as smilk
Messy messy foggy boundaries. Who's who? Who's whose? -

Summary
It had been a week since he'd last seen Shadow Milk. It wasn't a rare occurrence for him to vanish into thin air; it was his favorite trick after all. It's the lack of presence that Pure Vanilla found to be odd.
Ever since the beast arrived to his home in the Vanilla Kingdom, Shadow Milk had made it his goal to permeate into every facet of his and his people's lives.
His citizens would report their furniture floating above the ground, eyes that they swore were in the corner of their vision that would disappear when they turned, and the sharp ringing of bells down alleyways.
In a way, the Beast of Deceit is more ghost than cookie, as no one outside of a few have truly managed to see him.

Summary
There is a pattern to Shadow Milk shifting forms.
Pure Vanilla started mapping it to better expect when he'd find a snake in his closet, or a porcupine on his chair.
It always comes back to perception; or Shadow Milks want to not be perceived at all.
While his beast loved his theatrics and ached desperately for his attention, did not he want others to perceive him. His time as the Fount, both a profound breach of personal boundaries and intense isolation, left his dear beast's emotional processing absolutely destroyed.
So he changed his form.

Summary
The God of Deceit was once a god who danced through truth like a flame through old parchment—destructive, beautiful, inevitable. But that was before the fae turned their backs. Before they bound him in this tree, with chains etched in runes that gnawed through flesh and soul alike.
Now he is stillness. Now he is silence. Now he is Shadow Milk—the god no one remembers, watching the world like a man at the bottom of a well watches the light too far above to reach.
And so he waits.
Through the thin membrane of reality, where the veil is weakest, he sees the world. He sees the golden fields stretching in humble simplicity, dotted with the flicker of sheep. He sees the hill, where wildflowers bloom with such audacity they seem to challenge the sky.
And there, in the middle of it all—white as a breath, still as a prayer—is the shepherd. Pure Vanilla.
...
Pure Vanilla thinks of his flock as he dies. He thinks of Dandelion. He thinks of warm bread and honey. Of sun on his face. Of the feeling of grass beneath his feet.
Death is not merciful, it is not quick.
The shepherd bleeds, and The God of Deceit does not intervene.

Bookmarker's Notes
Shadow milk, a captured god, and pure vanilla, his vessel sworn to free him. Instead of razing the world in his god's name, PV acts w kindness, gentleness, and misdirection. Then, after his god is freed, uses the same tactics to soften him up. Devotion is not the same as approval, and love can be selfish.
