    Summary

The gods gave House Targaryen another prince.

Prince Aerion Targaryen was born into a family already divided by ambition, grief, and expectation. Raised alongside Princess Rhaenyra, he grows into a dragonrider, a warrior, and the one person who refuses to treat the Realm's Delight as anything less than his equal. Yet as the years pass, old rivalries deepen, new alliances are forged, and every choice made within the Red Keep sends ripples across the Seven Kingdoms.

From the Great Tourney of 105 AC to the gathering storm that will one day become the Dance of the Dragons, Aerion's presence changes more than expected, and still less. Friends become rivals, enemies become allies, and loyalties are tested beneath the shadow of dragons.

For in the game of succession, one more dragon can alter the fate of an entire dynasty.

History remembers Viserra Targaryen as beautiful, ambitious, and dead.

But what if they were wrong?

    —OR—

On the eve of her departure for White Harbor, Princess Viserra Targaryen runs. She finds herself, in the end, in the one kingdom in Westeros least inclined to welcome a Targaryen at all, changing not only her own fate, but the lives of her siblings as well.

Her flight is only the beginning. Old wounds reopen, and children scattered by duty, disgrace, and distance slowly find their way back to one another. The children of the Conciliator and the Good Queen were given only a few lines in the histories that followed them. Here, the histories were wrong.

    Summary

    Green.

It had never been her favorite color. In truth, it failed to reach higher than vague appraisal among the known hues of the established rainbow. The shades were too muted, too rooted in nature to obtain anything more than a simple passing appreciation for the pigment.

And nature had not been so kind to her in the past.

Perhaps it was too nonsensical to put such feelings and thoughts onto one specific color. After all, they were just a variety of different tints used to resemble the vibrant blooming of the world. They were harmless.

Or, at least, they had been.

But as Rhaenyra Targaryen stared down the length of the Great Hall, at the lithe, pale figure of Alicent Hightower striding toward the High Table, she realized the color had become so much more than a thing for admiration.

It had now become a symbol of war.

Or, in which, Rhaenyra Targaryen watches Alicent Hightower declare war in her green dress and finally reaches her breaking point.

    Summary

    What if Jacaerys Velaryon lived?

What if the Battle of the Gullet ended not with the Blacks’ greatest loss, but with their most decisive victory? What if Jace survived to fight for his mother’s throne, secure her reign, and grow from a prince shadowed by questions of blood into the greatest son the realm had ever known?

What if the Queen Who Never Was bore one final, unexpected daughter—a dragonrider with the blood, fire, and will to become queen beside a king history had already buried? What if Rhaella Velaryon was not merely Jace’s childhood companion, but the woman he defied expectation, duty, and dynasty to marry?

What if Rhaenyra’s elder line did not perish in the Gullet? What if Jace and Rhaella lived long enough to produce heirs of their own, allowing their branch of House Targaryen not merely to survive, but to flourish?

What wars might have ended differently? What dragons might have lived? What kingdom might have risen from the ashes if the prince meant to drown returned from the sea—and remained alive long enough to become king?
