But there are these case files that the other two don't even know the Night Nurse has dropped off for them. These cases are the perfect distraction after everything that has happened and Edwin can't resist just reading the files. But reading leads to investigating alone, and the cases become more difficult and more personal.

His favorite jacket was leather, a smooth dark brown that smelled heavenly when he was alive. The scent had always been addicting to him, and now that he’s dead he finds himself missing the intoxicating musk.
He also happened to enjoy the feeling of leather which, as with the scent, was something he found missing in the afterlife. He still liked to run his fingers over his coat purely out of habit, as if the repetitive motion would somehow bring back his sense of touch.

Edwin forgot his notebook at the office.
Not a problem. He prided himself on having an excellent memory. He certainly liked to jot down notes as he worked, but it wasn’t like he couldn’t work without it. He would just have to remember things until they returned to the office.
It was fine. He was a professional, and professionals did not delay an investigation because they forgot their notebook.
OR
Just months after escaping Hell, Edwin accidentally forgets his notebook on a case. He does not handle it well. Luckily, his new best mate is there to help him out.
