Summary
Roy should know better.
One man’s twisted pride was almost enough to bring the world to its knees, left unchecked. If he wants to help this nation move forward, he should know better than to let his own feelings grow too big, reach too far. Sin is just—mutated humanity, at the end of it.
Edward is eighteen, and he smiles as if having to build himself back up piece by piece didn’t hurt, didn’t cost him anything at all.
Roy should really know better.
Except—one meal turns into two turns into three turns into Edward snoring loudly and gracelessly on his shoulder after they spend two hours arguing about Alchemical Theory.
Roy hadn’t even meant to walk him up.
Or: Edward is persistent, Roy suffers because of it, and Riza deserves a pay raise.

Summary
His entire face felt warm, and not from the heat of the pan. The letters themselves, as well as their neatness, told him a great deal that he didn’t need to ask. The image of Ed leaning over his lab table, mouth pinched in concentration and golden eyes blazing with their customary intensity, writing out those simple three letters made something in his chest stutter. Stroke after stroke of dark ink, each one making Ed’s intentions and Roy’s words from that afternoon clearer and clearer.
