Ryan shot up from his bed, fear rising in his chest. He threw the covers off of himself, walking to the window to see:
"Naim? What are you—" He opened the window. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
"Ryan," said Naim. "I have to talk to you. Please. Come outside?"
A chill crept through Ryan's body, the fear lingering. He would have. He wanted to. Alas,
"Someone will... It's a bad idea, okay? Go home."
Naim looked at him, too perfect. Too sweet. "Please Ryan."
"No. We— we can't. Leave me alone."

Ryan took another drag from the joint, inhaling the smoke, letting the burn rest in his lungs. The orangey, pink sunset wasn’t enough to coax him out of his room. Or to end the anxious habit. He’d spent the whole day antsy. Waiting for his death rattle.. the quick, intermittent taps that knocked on his window. Those false projections of his utmost desire. Lingering soft and sweet at the glass pane, faking those beautiful, hazel eyes. A pleading, desperate look that became more convincing with each visit. Little mannerisms and sayings that only his Naim should conjure.
Or..
Naim isn't sent to voicemail when he calls Ryan for help.

Summary
Ryan bats the curtain out of their way and follows him in, savoring the way they have to squish their bodies in, their sides fitting against each other. Naim’s thigh bends over Ryan’s knee. One of his lanky arms gets swallowed by Ryan’s chest and bicep. Naim looks similarly thrilled, lips wavering as if he's testing his confidence. He’s still blushing.
“I’ll say it back if you smile real pretty,” he says to Naim’s lips, digging in his pockets for spare coins.
Naim goes still, like he’s too stubborn to give in to the kiss he so obviously wants. “Say please.”

“I didn’t think—it didn’t mean anything between us.”
“And with me?” Naim’s piercing eyes urged Ryan to lay his soul bare.
“You’re different.” Was what he settled on to not reveal his true feelings. Naim was different. He was gentle and touched Ryan as if he would break. At night he played a montage of all the different versions of Naim that he memorized over the time they spent together. Naim, with his pupils blown from the weed, regarding him lazily. Naim’s warm body under his, letting out soft whimpers whenever Ryan pressed him harder against the concrete. Naim, holding his gaze at school and at church, the same way he held their secrets between them. Naim, Naim, Naim. Only ever Naim. Ryan knew what made him happy (late night talks and baggy clothes), what scared him (a lot of things but mostly heights and stagnancy and being forgotten), what turned him on (Ryan mouthing at his neck and when he pushed his tongue past Naim’s lips).

Ryan has lived with this curse long enough to be able to tell the entity and the real Naim apart. Or does he?
