Lucy decides to take a gamble and offers an alternative deal, “How about this; you take us both all the way to my flat and teach me how to defend myself against your kind, and I’ll let you stay with me for as long as you need. I’ll feed you the same as I do myself and I’ll provide you with a place to sleep for the duration of your stay. Deal?”
Cardan looks at her for a long moment, his face betraying nothing. She swallows nervously and waits for him to alter the agreement.
