Jayce rolls his eyes. “You know, there’s like tools and toys for that, and even if there weren’t any, aren’t we genius inventors—”
“I think the accolade is Distinguished Innovators.”
“—same thing. Anyways, I’m saying, we could build something. Well, actually, I already sort of have an idea for it. If you want to, I could make it a surprise for you?”

Summary
dead ringer [idiom] - a person who looks exactly like another. one theory is that it originates from people's fear of being buried alive. in the 18th century particularly, a dying person would ask, upon their death, to be buried with a rope that attached to a bell on the surface. if it transpired that the deceased was not in fact dead, then they could use the rope to ring the bell. once rescued, the saved person would be an exact copy of the "deceased" person.
Jayce peeks at himself from under the fringe of his lanky, unruly hair, and sees the way he looks at his own hammer, then Jayce’s corrupted one, the way it pulses in time to what’s holding Viktor’s body together. It’s almost fascinating, watching the way his own face looks when he’s piecing something together, eyebrows furrowing in a way he didn’t know they did, nose scrunching briefly before he finally looks over at him. Jayce flinches at his gaze and glances away, listening to his own ragged breath as he tries to calm his racing heart.

Jayce was on his hands and knees, almost exactly as Viktor had imagined—only better. His body faced the door, bronze skin catching the dim light in a sheen broken by the black leather straps crisscrossing his chest and waist. From the mess of his brown hair jutted a pair of ears, black and white, the faux fur soft and distinct against the strands. A matching tail arched high from the base of his spine, swaying faintly with the smallest motion.
Around his throat sat a collar, deep red leather, a gold V stamped into its center, gleaming against his skin.
And his mouth—stretched wide around a glossy, candy-apple red ball gag.
