    Summary

What if Ilya has a panic attack in the locker room after getting the news of his father's death after the Winter 2017 Montreal @ Boston game and no one can figure out what is going on? What if, while scrambling for answers, Cliff Marleau has the brilliant idea to call Jane?

    Or,

What if Shane and Ilya's deeper emotional connection begins just before Ilya leaves for his father's funeral in Russia instead of on a phone call while they are separated by oceans?

    Summary

In room 1410, Ilya Rozanov is ready to walk out the door after successfully getting his 19 year old hockey rival into bed. He knew how to make this moment happen and he knows what they have to be to each other now that it's over. But as he turns the doorknob to leave, he's stopped with questions he never expected. And giving Shane Hollander what he needs in that moment will change everything.

I note which chapters are SFW vs NFSW, because many of you said knowing meant the difference between reading this on your lunch break or having to wait. (Thank you for wanting to read my work that much.)

Covers the first two years of their rookie seasons (which is mostly skipped over in the show/books). Canon divergent from the first hookup seen in HR s01ep01. Most things are from the show but the timeline is a mix of both; Hunter and Marleau are aged up per the show instead of as young as they are in the books. (Also, Shane and Ilya don't wait *two years*, they stick to the book timeline. IYKYK.)

Please note this will the first in a series; you can subscribe to the whole series as well so you don't miss anything :)

    Summary

When he was 17, the course of Shane Hollander’s life was altered when he made the choice to approach Ilya Rozanov outside a rink in Sasketchewan. A few months later, leaked nudes of Ilya upended everything Shane thought he knew about himself. When he and Ilya met again at the combine, they became best friends, and that was perhaps the most surprising thing of all.

This is Shane's POV (new!Shane) of the fic 'so it's gonna be forever' by Lila_Mac. It was originally titled My Best Friend Ilya and has been updated to Some Kind of Soulmates.

You must read 'so it's gonna be forever' (SIGBF) first! This fic contains MAJOR spoilers and doesn't make sense unless you have Ilya's time travel backstory. Use the "Inspired by" link in the Notes section right below this to go to SIGBF.
