“Hey, kitty. Did you sneak in here from someone else’s balcony?” the man – Hizashi, apparently – asks, shifting to scratch Shōta under the chin. “Or are you secretly some all-powerful immortal being who teleported here from ancient times?”
Shōta meows, and finally nudges Hizashi’s hand away, putting a stop to the petting.
“I thought so,” Hizashi replies, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Summary
It’s that same sensation from last night — like he’s run headfirst into a brick wall. His legs won’t move forwards, no matter how hard he tries to take a step and Shōta thinks that this must be what paralysis feels like. Even when he pushes on the back of his hamstring with a hand, they don’t budge. Shōta almost just gives up, resolves to sit on the floor, and maybe, if he’s lucky, the ground will open up beneath him and he won't have to stay stuck in the hallway forever.
Shōta is hit by a quirk that causes him to be stuck within a certain distance of Hizashi, at all times.

Each morning, long before anyone could see him, he snuck into the bathroom to rehearse his disguise. Lips curving upwards, posture adjusted, smile relaxed and friendly, until it looked real enough.
Becoming someone else was simpler than being himself. It was safer to be the loud blonde guy. The class clown. The idiot, who nobody takes seriously. Because if he wasn’t that person, people might see him for what he really was: a villain in the making.
