God, he has to stop looking at him.
“You call me Captain,” Steve answers, finally breaking eye contact to look instead at Hargrove’s fingers flicking his lighter again and again. Steve hopes the words say what he can’t: you were kind to me. From the way his fingers still, and the soft, barely-there pleased surprise blooms in Hargrove's scent beneath the rage, Steve thinks they might.
Or: Billy moves to the deadest part of the United States, meets the prettiest boy he's ever fucking seen, starts writing poetry, and everything - literally everything, from common courtesy to the food chain in Hawkins to his already-rocky home life to something so basic as his secondary gender - goes to fucking shit. For the better. Steve has panic attacks, spends most of his time alone, and swallows everything he's ever felt on reflex. And then he meets Billy, and everything gets, well- better. Much better.

Steve and Billy are barely eighteen, figuring out their relationship when the shit hits the fan and Billy is pregnant. Nobody is prepared for it, least of all Billy but it here but they just going to have to deal.

Summary
The length of a second is often left underappreciated. In a time and age where everyone is having less and less time for everything, the second has become like a drop in the ocean. Those who appreciate the length of a second are those who do not have an abundance of them anymore.
A second in which two people might decide that they don’t have the time to count down before twisting the dual key-set to destroy a Russian-built machine.Billy's miraculously survived the ordeal with the Mind Flayer but they're not out of danger yet, as they soon discover. In the meantime he has to deal with a more than excellent host Steve Harrington while trying to keep his massive attraction to him a secret.
