Grace didn’t know Simon, but he did know Simon Fisher. The only person who was not willing to tell Grace that he had to die on Project Hail Mary. Even if it was in vain.
Simon didn’t know Ryland Grace, but he did know Ryland. The only scientist in the COI who stuck up for Simon and said that the Iron Lung was cruel. Even if it was in vain.
Now Simon is on the Hail Mary in the usual Bloodymary fashion. But the two of them have to come to terms with seeing a fimiliar face in one another and the memories that come with it.

Summary
Ryland looked down at his clipboard, where he had written a reasonable script, supplied earlier that day by Adrian. Unfortunately, the moment his eyes landed on the words, his brain supplied only terrible ways to say them.
He chose the worst one.
“I need flowers with prominent reproductive structures.”
The man went completely still.
Ryland could feel his soul attempting to leave his body.
“For a plant anatomy lab,” he added quickly. “For my students. Middle school students. Not–” He cut himself off, because there was simply no end to that sentence that would improve his situation. Instead, he just weakly smiled, and added “Science.”

Summary
Two men sent on missions to save the human race... except they aren't the same human race. Two realities crash together as Dr. Ryland Grace races against the clock to save the Sun from dimming and Simon, a convict of warring factions in his reality, tries to find a lifeline in an ocean of blood on an alien moon to keep humanity alive. Their missions are made more difficult as they find themselves increasingly pulled from their realities and shoved into the other man's with no rhyme or reason.

Summary
5 months ago, a series of space stations calling themselves the "Coalition of Iron" appeared throughout the 40-Eridani system, bearing a bewildering and terrifying story of a universe without stars, a humanity on the verge of extinction, and a moon made of human blood.
Simon survived the Eel and the Eye, only to reimprisoned as soon as he was pulled out, subject to the whims of scientists who seek answers in his biology. Now, Ava's dumped him into the custody of a new scientist, separate from the COI, a complete unknown. He's learned better by now than to hope.
Dr. Ryland Grace is pulled from his peaceful life on Erid to retrieve a specimen from the COI, an organism mutated by prolonged exposure to the blood ocean of AT-5
He expects an amoeba. They bring him a person.

Summary
Ryland Grace remembers that someone tried to help him escape. A blurry face, running alongside him, trying to tear off the man who tackled him, only to be pinned down by Grace's side. It's makes him sick to realize that he never learned the man's name, and now never will.
Simon remembers being brought back to Earth for a project to save the dying stars. He can't remember how he went from being the engineer on a death mission to waking up in a cell on a space station far away. Now that why he's been pondering doesn't matter. Not now that he's about to be sent on a different death mission, this time in a submarine.
Rocky wants to stop by a moon he vaguely remembers having been uninhabited. He doesn't know why there's a human space station hovering over it. He also doesn't know the voice that comes in over a crackling radio transmission that had a one in a billion chance of connection. But hey, new friends are always fun!
