Mira kept her eyes focused on her book, mentally bookmarking the page for later as she turned the page. Her eyes stayed still on the page, not needing to move as she waited for the inevitable. Rumi's gaze was a fire under her skin, her wolf jumping for joy for one of her mates being so close to her. And especially the mate about to go to heat.
Rumi, for the most part, smelled similar to that of a human. It was only when her heat neared that she smelled so tantalizing to Mira and Zoey, so much so that the two werewolves wanted to bathe in her scent as they fucked her. Breathing a bit deeper, Mira had to hold back the low growl that built up in her throat.
Rumi was so, so close to entering her heat.
Arousal grew in Mira's stomach just from Rumi's proximity, just in time for her mate's whiny, "Mira."

“Wanna be yours,” Rumi mumbles around Zoey’s fingers, barely able to get the words out with the obstruction on her tongue. Zoey’s face brightens, and her spare hand grabs Rumi’s—the one with the wedding band encircling it.
“You’re mine, forever,” Zoey promises, and Rumi feels the weight of it press on her chest. It’s not an unpleasant weight; if anything, it’s like the 15-kilo weighted blanket Zoey had gotten her a few weeks ago, when the stress of wedding planning was starting to get to her. “I can’t wait to grow our family with you.”
It takes Rumi a second to figure it—Oh. Oh.

Mira turns, eyebrows lifting behind her lenses. “…Sorry, what?”
Zoey’s filter is gone. “Like, do they get in the way? Do they fog up? Could they break? I mean, what if you headbutt someone by accident? Or is it like a whole aesthetic thing—”
Mira stares for half a second, then her lips twitch into a smirk. The amusement grows slowly, spreading into a full, awkward smile that makes her eyes crinkle at the corners. She tilts her head, pink hair slipping over one shoulder as she listens, clearly more interested the longer Zoey drunkenly babbles.
“— and like, do you have to take them off every time or can you just... work around them? I feel like they’d be cute but also kind of a hazard, you know? Like kissing a sexy librarian who might accidentally concuss you—”
Mira lets out a warm and surprised laugh, and leans her elbow on the bar. That smirk deepens. “Well. I’ve never kissed anyone with freckles,” Mira says, voice smooth.

Summary
A warbling growl coming from the plush carpeted area in front of the couch replied. The sickening sound of crunching bones filled the air, followed by a sob of pain that made Mira’s blood run cold.
Rumi.
Something had her. Something had her and was killing her.
White-hot fury surged and Mira didn’t hesitate. She rushed forward, vaulting over the couch and landing with a flourish and brandishing her gok-do at the monster in their living room.
She heard Zoey land beside her, not taking her eyes off the scene.The carpet was gouged out with deep claw marks, and in the center was a hulking shape covered in purple fur, adorned with almost glowing white stripes.
It was a tiger, larger than any she was sure existed. It was bent over, claws raking over the already ruined carpet and it’s breathing was labored. Looking up, it’s head turned slightly, exposing fangs that dripped with dark red blood.
