Din tries in vain to make sense of the situation. “Migs, if this is about Morak, about me removing my helmet…you don’t have to pretend. I traveled to Mandalore, and was redeemed in the Living Waters. My Creed is restored. Your discretion meant the world to me, but there’s no longer any need for you to deny that you’ve seen my face.”
“Oh, you’re one of those Mandos? Well, you’re in luck, because I don’t remember shit!” Migs turns to Din, arms crossed. “A few months ago, I got picked up by the New Republic authorities, and underwent mental recalibration as part of their treatment program. Ever since I stuck my head in that machine of theirs, my memory’s got more holes in it than a slice of Byss cheese.”
Din slowly puts two and two together. “You’re talking about a Mind Flayer.”

Migs turns up on Nevarro missing some of his memories, and Din finds himself missing Migs.

“There are always adaptors to make mismatched plugs and sockets fit. I have acquired some high-quality aftermarket attachments myself.”
“Oh?” Din can feel himself blushing.
“Would you like to see?” Before Din can answer, IG opens a storage compartment in his midsection. Inside are the aforementioned attachments.
“IG…did you invite me here tonight to proposition me?”
“That is an accurate assessment,” IG admits.

Summary
As a Guild hunter, Din has become accustomed to relying on intel from information brokers to plan his hunts; the same is still true now that he’s working as an independent contractor to eliminate Imperial Remnants. After a string of touch-and-go missions where he barely escapes with his life, his enemy-turned-ally Migs Mayfeld turns up to warn Din that he’s being intentionally fed false information, and that someone—possibly within the New Republic—wants him dead.
As they had on Morak, the two must disguise themselves once again to infiltrate Imperial Remnant strongholds and seek out the truth. Along the way, Din develops complex feelings for the man who is able to slip back into his old uniform with such apparent ease—and hopes his trust in Migs is not misplaced.
