Later, when Dean isn’t drunk and numb and pissed off at everything, he’ll think about how fucking nice it was that Cas always dragged his sorry ass all the way to bed instead of dumping him on the floor as soon as they got home.
Later, when he’s something more than a swirling mess of regret and guilt and anger, he’ll wonder how Cas endured a year of this. A year of picking Dean up from bars and clubs and people’s houses; nursing his fight wounds, taking off his shoes, tucking him into bed. Leaving water and painkillers on the nightstand for Dean to wake up to.
