“Did… did this one’s husband not tell Xiăoshūzi?” asks Meng Yao, face heating. When Lan Xichen had told him what to do, he’d thought that he’d at least informed his brother. Meng Yao swallows, and says, “This one has been sent to serve Xiăoshūzi. As his wife has been away three days now, surely he needs…” Meng Yao trails off when he sees the sharp glint of interest in Lan Wangji’s eyes.
It’s remarkable how well the Twin Jades of Lan know each other, thinks Meng Yao, at the faint quickening of Lan Wangji’s breath. “I am yours to use, Xiăoshūzi,” says Meng Yao, dropping his head demurely.
Lan Wangji steps in close, and raises his chin with two elegant fingers. “Xiongzhang is most generous. This one will thank him,” says Lan Wangji, before leaning down and pressing his lips to Meng Yao’s.
