Summary
Beatrice and Sherlock argue about her decision to leave Appleton Manor, and things go too far. When Beatrice accuses Sherlock of being like Silas, he starts to wonder if she’s right.
Fortunately, James knows him better than that.

“Protect me?” Beatrice scoffed. She stared at him for a moment, her eyes narrowed. Sherlock could see the moment that something changed, a realization dawning on her. “You sound just like him.”
Sherlock felt as if the air had been punched from his chest. The entire table froze at her words, except for James. James set his fork down with a small clang and leaned back in his chair.
“I am nothing like him,” Sherlock said. He hadn’t meant for the words to come out so quiet.
“He did everything he could to keep you at arm’s length and yet here you are. His protégé.”
“I am nothing like him,” Sherlock repeated. It sounded weak even to his ears.
