The story begins where episode 9.10 ended. Inspired by the promotional pics for H50 episode 9.11 my muse went into overdrive. It’s going to be an emotional and, sometimes, dark rollercoaster ride. After Joe's death, Steve is bruised, battered but not defeated. Join him! (Proofread)
Exhausted, Steve leaned against the doorframe. The noise of the exploding bullets didn't help the trauma he suffered from the explosions. His ears started to ring, and nausea was washing over him. "This is definitely not the time or the place to drop out, buddy. Get a fucking grip," Steve told himself between clenched teeth. Yes, he was tired as hell. Yes, he was on the verge of losing it. Yes, he was close to falling apart. And yes, he'd loved to cuddle up into a fetal position in one of the dark corners. Only, this was not him. He was bruised and battered but not defeated, and he was still on a mission. A mission that had gone south in many ways.

"My name is Catherine. You can call me Cath if you want. What's your name?" She tried again, offering her hand in welcome and starting over a bit. "I'm a really good friend of Steve's ...and Danny's, too. Can you tell me your name?"
He looked at her and then slowly took her hand, allowing the warm introduction, but still didn't say a word. Not his name or a simply hi. Nothing.
"Okaaay", Catherine said as she climbed herself back up to her feet. She braced herself against the doorframe. Feeling a little sickish on the upswing. Her go-bag was behind her on the landing where she'd literally dragged it after the cab had dropped her from the airport.
"Is anyone home? Steve or Danny ... or even Charlie? How about Grace? If I promise to stay right here ... will you get one of them for me?"

Summary
He raised his hand up high and stared at it. It was trembling, but not too badly. Just a tiny waver here and there as if he'd thwacked it against something hard leaving behind a residual tremor of sorts. He didn't care. It didn't hurt. It would go away. What caught his attention more though was the palm of that hand. It was incredibly clean. Spotless in fact. He could see each and every line, crease and old scar. Tiny thin spiderwebs which criss-crossed... here and there.
