The hammer just proved what Bucky learned back when they were kids: give Steve power, and he’ll use it to kneel in the dirt right beside you. The serum hadn’t changed that, the shield hadn’t changed that and the heavens wouldn’t either.
The hammer had just made it official and irrefutable for the rest of the world.
Okay, so now there was no way he was not not going to do this.
If Steve knew about this, he would definitely tease him mercilessly. Even though a faint blush would creep across his cheeks, he wouldn’t be able to resist the opportunity to poke harmless fun at Bucky, wouldn’t let him just have this. He’d say something stupid like “You said you wouldn’t cave, Sarge” or “You waited three weeks, and now you’re getting all hot and bothered just because I’m, what, a decent human being?" but Bucky was much too focused on the fact that no mere human being would be able to wield Mjölnir, much too busy ravishing in the fact that someone who was deemed worthy by the heavens was his and his only.

Jesus, Armand.” Sometimes he thinks he could really do without a boyfriend who wasn’t into grand romantic gestures, especially because Armand has such a propensity for inventing new ways to make Daniel feel like a class traitor. He kisses his sweaty head, places a palm on his chest and taps it with a finger. “I don’t need an island. You’re it, baby.”
