Summary
Peter lay sprawled across his narrow bed, eyes locked on the ceiling where cracks branched out like forgotten roads on an old map. Sleep had turned into a stranger these days, slipping away just when he thought he might catch it. But as he stirred awake and crossed the threshold, a sudden chill wrapped around him, raising the hairs on his arms. His spider-sense tingled at the base of his skull, a subtle buzz that warned of something off-kilter.
There, propped casually against his desk, stood Tony Stark.
Peter's heart stuttered. Tony was dead. Gone since that final battle against Thanos. Yet something wasn't right. Tony's form shimmered at the edges, translucent in places, like a hologram struggling to hold its signal.
"Nice setup you've got here, kid," Tony said, his voice carrying that familiar blend of sarcasm and affection. "Really leaning into the minimalist vibe."
"You're not real," Peter whispered. "This has to be a hallucination."

Summary
Peter is working at Delmar’s, sorting out tabloids on the rack in the front, and he sees Tony’s face plastered everywhere and then Peter is reading words and then he can’t read anything because he’s crying and his shaking hands rip the magazine in half.
Tony Stark…alive.
He saved the world, saved Peter, and Peter never even got to thank him. Not that it matters now. If Peter was a factor in Tony's decision to snap his fingers, Peter will never know. No one will ever know, because Peter fucked up and now he doesn’t exist.

Summary
Later, when the adrenaline has worn off and he’s washing soot off his body in his shower, he laments that Tony hadn’t ever flipped his faceplate up. Peter misses his face like a fresh bruise. All versions of his face. Mr. Stark, with a black eye, sitting on his Aunt May’s couch. Mr. Stark, tired and worried and spitting mad, on the rooftop, taking away Peter’s suit. Tony, almost angry, holding Peter as he dissolves into dust. Tony, five years older and gray-haired, hugging Peter for the first (and final) time. Peter knows them all intimately.
He wants to add another to his mental collection: Tony, recognizing Peter. It’s been a long time since anyone has recognized his face.
