Summary
Babe Heffron is having a fantastic time. He's spending more and more time with Gene, who is gorgeous, low-key hilarious, and who rocks Babe's world on the regular. Have they talked about what it is they're doing? No. Can Babe tell if Gene is flaky because he's ignoring him or because he's a medical resident? Not particularly. Is he swiftly falling deeply in love? Nah, man, it's casual.
The sequel to my fic My Babe Just Cares for Me, which is itself an unofficial spin off of bingomanifesto's world in A Kinder Fate.

“Is it your first class too?”
“Nah Gene, I’m teaching this bitch!”
In an effort to save Gene from burnout, his friend and fellow medical resident signs him up for weekly lindy hop dance classes. He doesn't expect his instructor to be Babe Heffron.
Babe was, in Eugene’s estimation, somewhere among the top three acquaintances whose health and safety he was most concerned with at any given time. He had absolutely no idea that Babe partook in swing dancing, let alone how he’s been granted a position of authority on the subject.
This is an unoficial baberoe spin off of bingomanifesto's excellent series, A Kinder Fate.

Summary
Eugene Roe and Babe Heffron have each gone home after the war, however they can't seem to stay apart for long, though this does not come without some challenges. Socially, internally, societally, there are barriers these guys must face together.
Journey from the Deep South to the northeastern seaboard and back again with former army medic and private, now men thrust out into the world with nothing but each other to rely on as they grapple with one another and their feelings.
“"I heh- I missed you.” Babe teases, fully flirting now, leaning in real smooth and close, lids getting heavy.
“Babe” Eugene starts, scoldingly, "save it for later." His eyes are sparkling though.
Babe is temporarily doused, but takes this to mean what he wants it to mean. And Eugene can’t help but agree.

Summary
So it went, as summer ripened in full and began to give way to fall, or the closest thing the bayou could offer. Eugene’s eyes were faraway in church, farther still whenever a well-meaning friend showed up at the door to ask him how he’d liked Europe, how glad he was to be back. He flinched when a neighbor fired off a shot at a duck or a gator and woke up in harsh, grating sobs that Maud could hear through the wall in the night, that she thought might break her heart in two.
And then, one day, he stepped through the door at dinner time, and he wasn’t alone.

Or, Eugene’s mother tries to reacquaint herself with her son and anything that could help him heal—which might just include Babe Heffron.
