Summary
As a druid, Mordred had been raised on the stories of the old gods, of their lord Emrys and how his coming would mean freedom for their people. What he had trouble with was seeing Merlin -clumsy, gangly, grinning Merlin- as anything more than a faltering servant. That is, until Emrys shows him otherwise.
Basically Merlin is a god and it’s time Mordred accepted this.

Summary
Six months after Camlann, Arthur is alive, magic is legal, and Camelot needs a Court Sorcerer.
Arthur’s solution is the first Mage Tournament of Camelot, intended to celebrate Albion’s newly legal magic while quietly identifying sorcerers powerful enough to protect a kingdom.
Merlin enters because it sounds fun.
Arthur expects him to do reasonably well. The knights expect plenty of entertainment. The Druids know exactly who has just entered a tournament for battle sorcerers and are trying very hard not to laugh.
Then the tournament begins, and Arthur realizes that after ten years at Merlin’s side, he may not have the faintest idea what Merlin is capable of.

She barely has a moment to catch her breath when a flash of red collides with her and a pair of rubbery arms wraps around her, looping wildly.
“Yes! Vivi’s gonna be a pirate with us!”
“It’s great to have you, Vivi!” shouts Usopp. “Also, the Navy is shooting at us!”
“Oh, shit!”
They scramble into position, pulling the sails and moving the cannon, Vivi falling into the familiar pattern alongside the rest of them. There is no time for celebration, no time for regrets – There are cannonballs flying, screaming wind and the shouts of the crew, and no time to mourn a now-dead girl. By the time she has a chance to look back, Alabasta is gone from the horizon, and maybe it’s better this way.
Or: Nefertari Vivi makes the selfish choice.
