Today was the first day in two weeks that a new foster family offered to take him in. He's been in 63 houses and all of them turned him away. Number 64 will be no different.Or or: 15-year-old Tommy has been tossed around from house to house his whole life. He is now forced to pick up and start all over again with another new family. The Watsons seem nice enough, but being nice isn't going to win him over or magically make him love them. The breeze bounced through his hair, making it sway and dance in the moonlight. Curtains of shadow sliced in the slivers like a knife through butter. The crisp autumn air smelled like pumpkin spice and firewood.
Running from the faces of the S.M.P. was not exactly on his bucket list for this evening. I mean, leaping majestically across rooftops, landing safely on each one, and avoiding sudden death was taxing.
Exhaustion aside, he pushed forward planting his foot on the concrete roof of a pizzeria, and jumped towards the fire escape of the next building. Trying to grasp the railing, he missed, and he fell.

"Shit, fuckin' balls!" Tommy whisper-shouted. He was trying to keep his voice down so he wouldn't be found. But apparently walking around in a cave half-blind proved more difficult than anticipated.
The child flicked a strand of blonde curls out of his face and started scanning the room for anything he could eat or defend himself with.
'Bingo' he thought to himself, his hand landed on a smooth, tooth-shaped thing in a bag of more like it. He might be able to survive on these, for now at least, he picked one out of the bag and sniffed it.
It smelled sweet but not overly, it had a little weight to it and was cool to the touch. He took an experimental bite and, "oh my fuck that tastes good." Yep, he's taking them.
*crack*
"Oh shit-"
