Summary
After a fatal car crash leaves eight-year-old Cady orphaned, custody is handed to her estranged 30 year old aunt, Gemma Forrester—a brilliant but emotionally stunted roboticist with no clue how to care for a child. But Cady doesn’t come alone. She brings her nanny.
Megan is young, composed, and fiercely devoted to Cady. She’s also beautiful—too beautiful—and utterly unreadable. Gemma doesn’t trust her. Megan doesn’t like Gemma. But now they’re living under the same roof, circling each other, bound by grief, responsibility… and something darker neither of them wants to name.
There are things Gemma can’t explain. Accidents. Disappearances. Megan’s uncanny ability to know what Cady needs—what Gemma needs. And the worst part?
She’s starting to want her.
