He had, as Wei Wuxian was a beta at the time, tasted of hardly anything at all. But the faint taste of cinnamon clung to Lan Wangji’s teeth. Wei Wuxian could only gasp as Lan Wangji’s tongue slipped into his mouth, graceless and rough. This kiss couldn’t possibly be any more different than his first one.

“They are not Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji said softly.
The implication was either ignored by or lost on the omega, who shook his head. “Whatever. I’ll leave you alone, since that’s what you want.”
Why has it all changed between us? But Lan Wangji would not follow where he was unwanted. There was another seller, not too far away, who had seen their spat, an elderly man who grinned with understanding. “Lover’s quarrel?” he asked.

Taking his cue, Lan Zhan backs off completely, removing both hands and mouth from Wei Ying's body, which isn't exactly what he wants. Lan Zhan's face is neutral, and he waits for Wei Ying to explain himself.
"I wanna keep going," Wei Ying says, wanting to make that part crystal clear. "But I just… I kind of came here under the assumption that I would be topping."
Lan Zhan blinks very, very slowly. "I am a top."
"Well," Wei Ying says carefully. "So am I."
"You are not."
Wei Ying lets out a cry of indignation. "Am too!"
Lan Zhan gives a minute shake of his head. "You do not know it yet, but you are not a top."
"And how the fuck would you know my preference?!" Now, Wei Ying is getting genuinely angry. "I've never had gay sex with anyone, let alone you, so how can you—"
"Wei Ying."
"What?!"
Lan Zhan is giving Wei Ying the same look that an adult gives a child who thinks they can go swimming when it's freezing outside. "Let me try. If you do not like it, we will stop, and I will be the bottom."
