Summary
“Don’t you find that a bit morbid?” Sebastian asks, watching you bend over your butterfly again.
“Morbid?”
“Playing with dead things.”
You gently tug the strongest vein of the second left wing; moving it into place below the first. You pull away. You allow yourself to exhale.
“I’m not playing. I’m preserving.”
Sebastian hmms at that. You hear her turning on the coffee maker.
“I don’t mean to make light of it. I can tell you’re very good at it. But isn’t it a bit like being a funeral director for bugs?”
“Embalming is a very important practice. What do you think our world would be like without undertakers?”
She considers that too. Butter sizzles in a pan, you begin to guide the second wing, and you hear her cracking open an egg: then two, three, four.
“Anarchy. Zombies roaming the streets. The straights have taken over.”
You humour her with a snort. She’s lucky that she’s hot.
“I guess what I mean is,” She continues, her puttering amalgamating into an orchestra so you can no longer distinguish any one sound from another. “Aren’t you sad that the butterfly is dead?”
“No,” You reply, easily. “If it hadn’t died, I wouldn’t have been able to pin it.” -

“I wish I knew what you looked like.”
Jim frowned. He knew Sebastian was going to say it eventually, everyone did.

Summary
Jim frowned. "How much sleep have you been getting?" He asked, forcing a casual tone.
Sebastian scowled. "Don't change the subject." Jim was looking, fuzzy. A little blurry.
