I will freely admit out of the gate this is foefiction.
I hate Blood of Hercules and everything it stands for. The best way to highlight why I hate it is to rewrite one of the MANY scenes in the book where the allegedly strong FMC is literally grabbed by the hand and forced against her will into a situation cause misogyny and plot said so.This is a rewrite of the scene in Blood of Hercules where Alexis finds out she's a Spartan. Specifically from when the nameless Spartans arrive to when they take her to Sparta. I rewrote the scene to downplay the stupider elements while giving Alexis actual agency. So even if the result is still the same, she does it on her own accord. Also I cut out the unnecessary misogyny this scene had too.
I'm being generous and kept some of the same terminology like Spartan, but I changed some of the others to be more appropriate and accurate to Greek Mythology and Ancient history. I also swapped out mutt with halfblood, cause mutt is a garbage ass term with dubious connotations these days. I will freely admit this is far from perfect, in fact it's probably terrible. But if I may dare to boast, it's still fucking better than the source material.
