Summary
The Princess and her inner circle have departed to investigate the source of the black rocks, but that does not mean everything is magically fixed.
Unable to ignore the problem any further, King Frederic declares a state of emergency to try and mitigate the fallout from this magical contamination—a fallout that resulted in a grave accident befalling old friend Quirin. Wishing to help his friend, he calls upon the royal family’s old and trusted healer, the expert in alchemical metaphysics that had saved Arianna’s life with the Sundrop flower.
Meanwhile, threats lurking in the shadows have started to circle the weakened kingdom. Corona must involve allies from a past that may no longer reflect who they are—a past of harsh measures and a kingdom stained with the blood of supposed criminals. Frederic thought he had moved past this, but the past may not let go so easily.
Below it all, an unstable alchemist sits alone as a symbol of the kingdom’s failure. Ultimately, the key to Corona’s salvation—or destruction—may lie with him.

Purple and Red are Elites among Elites, the top of their class and the envy of Devastis. It's no surprise Tallest Miyuki came offering a special final assessment. No surprise she sent Purple out solo, either. Invaders work alone. Purple knows that. Knowledge and experience aren't the same thing, however.
