He turns his head to meet her eyes, ocean blue and chocolate brown. She sees it shimmering beneath the surface, that thing he can’t really name. It’s not just in his eyes. She sees it beneath his skin, in his veins, in the nervous twitch of his fingers. It always comes, sudden and sharp, stealing his breath, hammering his heart against his ribs. And it’s close now, having followed him from Kildare to Morocco to the middle of the fucking ocean.
Kiara doesn’t know at what age it found him, doesn’t know how often it visits. But she thinks maybe it was always there – just another present from Luke Maybank.

The ship ride back to Kildare takes a bit of a tole on JJ, but Kie makes sure he knows he's not alone.

Summary
JJ’s jaw feels paralyzed. His teeth ache from how hard he’s clenching. Harder, harder, and then release. The breath is loud, almost a gasp, as his jaw unlocks and his mouth falls open. His eyes take a little longer though, lashes tickling his cheeks as he tries so hard to open them.
The first flutter is nothing but blurry shapes, his still-too-heavy eyelashes getting in the way; mouth dry, he mumbles something about microscopes, science class, and spiders. And though his eyes burn a little, he peers through them, blinking until the haze above him becomes a shape. A shape into a girl. His girl.
OR
JJ finally reunites with his family. Angst, joy, and forgiveness ensues.

Summary
Mike doesn’t know how long he sits on the edge of the coffee table before he hears the clatter of JJ’s boots hitting the floor. Each step is loud, angry, and then it stops all at once.
JJ’s eyes are wide, bright in their panic, and his head whips from one direction to the other before finally settling on Mike. But the tension doesn’t drain from his body when he realizes they’re alone; if anything, Mike swears he sees JJ’s breathing pick up. His chest heaves with the effort to control his breathing, his fingers shake before he closes them into fists, and his eyes linger anywhere but on Mike’s face.
He looks like a caged animal, like something feral locked up for the first time. Like if Mike moves the wrong way, JJ might literally take a bite out of him. Or claw his skin raw.
OR
Mike shows up at JJ's place after finding out he stole the money clip in episode 3x05.

“Well, kid,” Shoupe‘s eyes are blue, though they don’t hold the rage of Luke Maybank, the desperation of Ward Cameron, the manipulation of Chandler Groff, or the distrust of JJ himself. They’re more open than JJ expects, gazing at him in a way that makes him nervous simply because it’s unfamiliar. “You’ve had a busy month, huh?”
“Not really.”
JJ’s lips quirk up before he can help himself. He tilts his head and raises a brow, “I think you might be forgetting an important detail there, Sheriff.”
Shoupe raises his brow and lifts his notebook, “According to your good friend Cleo, Chandler Groff ‘knifed him real good.’ That about cover it?”
