Summary
Matt and Frank met in their teens. They were fast friends and easily became each other's rock. Matt's blindness and Frank's anger management issues seemed like a recipe for disaster but together they were Frank and Matt. Right when they were on the precipice of something more, Frank meets Maria and then goes to the army.
The last time they see each other they were fighting. The next time they see each other Matt doesn't realize until he's falling off the roof of a building with a bullet in his armor.
OR
Punisher and Matt were childhood friends that lost contact and when they meet again it isn't pretty.

Summary
Sure, the two vigilantes could hold their own in the thick of it. What they don't account for is being set up, just to be faced with dozens of kill hungry Russians. They barely make it out alive, barely able to keep it together. Matt thinks he loses Frank, not being able to hear or sense him. But when he realizes that he was safe—not so sound—the feelings come too quickly for him to handle.

Frank forces the other close, opening his mouth to allow Matt to do whatever he pleases. “I thought I lost you,” Matt gasped against his lips, the words thick with emotion and metallic taste of his own blood. “I couldn’t hear you, I couldn’t—”
